What We Do

The objective of the Institute for Healthcare Excellence (IHE) is to assist international nurses in coming to the U.S. to pursue graduate healthcare education and in becoming well-paid U.S. registered nurses by the end of their first year of study. We accomplish this objective through our unique nurse preparation and licensure program, and enrollment in a master of business administration with a concentration in healthcare. Our partner schools are Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky and Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Oregon. We accept students with both a bachelor of nursing and three-year diploma degrees.

Our sole focus is on helping our students realize their dream of becoming licensed, registered U.S. nurses within the first 12 months of the program. We provide in-depth training for students to meet the rigorous requirements in order to become nurses.

Our students are able to work soon upon arrival, earning-while-they-learn, though our work-study program. All classes are on Saturdays or evenings. While completing our nurse licensure program and taking graduate courses, students are placed in a variety of work settings during the first year. After becoming licensed nurses, students are able to obtain great-paying jobs in U.S. hospitals and other health-related organizations while completing their graduate studies.

For Those Internationally-Trained Nurses Without a U.S. Nursing License, IHE Provides the Following:

  • Comprehensive pre-application assessment of readiness to apply for U.S. nursing licensure
  • Individualized management of the entire U.S. nurse licensure program
  • Payment of all third-party fees up to and including two-thousand, five hundred dollars ($2,500 USD)
  • Assistance in submitting the application for U.S. registered nursing licensure
  • Review of nurse credentials by third-party evaluation services to assure compliance with U.S. required nurse education
  • Assurance that international nurses meets the minimum English-language requirement
  • Assistance in meeting requirements of individual state board of nursing
  • Orientation and overview of the U.S. healthcare systems and the unique role of the nurse in that system. This includes lecture workshops, videos and supplemental study guides.

  • Ongoing consultation and assistance

Currently Hold a U.S. Nursing License?

For those international nurses currently licensed as U.S. registered nurses, we have a streamlined program where we assist them in transferring their license to the state in which they will attend school (Oregon or Kentucky) so they can begin working as nurses within a few months. In order for these nurses to gain F-1 visa status through which employment authorization is provided, these students are also enrolled in the master’s of business administration program at one of our partner academic institutions.  Total program cost is $2,500 (plus fees).
